River Vale Homes

Although rich with Revolutionary War history, one of the first things you notice when coming to see River Vale homes is how young they are compared to elsewhere in Bergen County. The average age of River Vale homes is 36 years. This is because River Vale is younger than most towns; incorporated in 1906, a great many River Vale homes were built after 1970.

River Vale really is the quintessential small town. Nearly all River Vale homes are single family houses set upon lush green lawns in quiet neighborhoods of winding streets with towering trees. You’ll even find a semi private golf course right in the middle of River Vale that over looks Lake Tappan. There are forested areas so it’s no wonder that you might be surprised by deer when looking at River Vale homes!

Community spirit is very keen with a lot of volunteerism such as Neighbors Helping Neighbors and large turnouts for events like the Halloween Ragamuffin Parade, Oktoberfest and Memorial Day Parade. The River Vale lifestyle comes from strong family values – parents are active in the schools, Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops are well supported, the public library is very popular and there are family movie nights during the summer.

Rivervale Road and Westwood Avenue are the only main streets in River Vale. The quaint business district is at their intersection known as “Four Corners.” Friendly shopkeepers, some in business for decades, have a tradition of giving back to the community. They regularly donate food to local charities for fund raising.

Another big draw for River Vale homes is the school system which is a top rated district in New Jersey. With a 13.4 to 1 student teacher ratio, 1.2 to 1 student to computer ratio and excellent facilities, students here excel when they get to prestigious Pascack Valley Regional High School and beyond. Parent involvement, motivated teachers and a terrific system combine for a great student experience.

River Vale is such an exceptional place to raise a family that Money Magazine rated it as one of the top 100 towns in the USA. With all these positives, River Vale homes maintain their value well and continue to be in strong demand. When looking in the Pascack Valley, make sure that River Vale homes are always on your “must see” list!
