Easter Week events in Bergen County really come in 2 formats - the easter egg hunt and the Easter Bunny.
Easter egg hunts are held all over Bergen County through your local Church. Check with yours to find out if they're doing an egg hunt and when. Others through such organizations as the Tenafly Nature Center are sold out by now. In addition, many families do their own in a backyard for the little folks in the family.
For weeks now, parents have known that the Easter Bunny is in the shopping mall. No matter which major mall you visit, there's a big Easter Bunny ready to take photos with your children.
This week is also known as Holy Week. Easter is the most important holiday in the Christian calendar and most Christians follow the Gregorian Calendar. The Orthodox Church does not so their Easter in the following weekend. For all of you celebrating, I wish you a wonderful holiday.
Easter is a time when Christians celebrate the resurrection of Christ, his overcoming death and giving us the freedom to remove sin, to embrace love, forgiveness and hope.
Next month we have the most important holiday for the Jewish religion - Passover - where many of the same themes are embraced. So as we wish our Christian friends a Happy Easter this week, we will soon be wishing our Jewish friends Happy Passover. Ramadan, the most important Muslim holiday, is ending soon. This is a month of fasting for spritual introspection and to do good deeds in your community. You can wish your Muslim friends Happy Ramadan.
