Labor Day is late this year giving all of us a few extra days of summer. Take some time off and relax if you can. Fall comes in just over 3 weeks. I don't know about you but for me, the end of summer is nothing I look forward to. Because Labor Day is one of our major holidays, not a lot is going on. Call up your town to see if they have something planned for residents. Here's what we do have of note:
Garfield 2026 Annual Fireworks Display
The City of Garfield has several events during the year that they put on in major league style. People come from all over to these events and the next one is thiis coming Friday from 5 to 8+. It's their 26th Annual Fireworks Display that's really very much like a carnival followed by fireworks at dusk. Bring a chair or blanket.
Nature Walk at the Demarest Nature Cemter
Every month, weather permitting, the Demarest Nature Center has a 1 hour community walk. It's this Friday at 10 am and you meet at Wakelee Field (off of Wakelee Drive which is immediately west of the railroad tracks off Hardenburgh).
Apple Cider Making at the Tenafly Nature Center
Beginnig this weekend, one of the most popular programs at theTenafly Nature Center is back. Apple Cider Making makes it's 2026 debut on Saturday and continues on throughout the fall.
American Dream Designer Fashion Show
Fashion Week in NYC starts on September 5th but we have our own here at the American Dream Mall that's open to the public and free. Award winning designer Andres Aquino is presenting his Couture Americana Fashion Show there this Saturday 3-5.NJ
Broadway Karaoke Night in Westwood
A combination of a fun karaoke night and an introduction to the 1st play of the Bergen County Players season, you will really have fun Saturday night in Westwood's Veterans Park starting st 5:30. Karaoke signups start at 5:30 and it goes on until 8:30 at whiich time the cast from The Producers will perform. Bring a chair or blanket.
Park Ridge North Jersey Concert Band and Fireworks
Park Ridge has a 2 our concert by the North Jersey Concert Band starting at 6 Saturday nght with fireworks at 8. The Park Ridge Labor Day Weekend Fireworks Display & NJ Concert Band is a treasured annual tradition. It's held at the high school football field. Bring a chair and blanket I'd think.
250th Walking Tour at Historic New Bridge Landing
Come Sunday afternoon, 3-4:30, and learn about our Revolutionary War history at the 250th Walking Tour of Historic New Bridge Landing. This walking tour is being escorted by Deboorah Powell who is the President of the Bergen County Historical Society. Tickets are reasonable too at $12.50 for adults and $7.50 students.
