This weekend we have a mix of outdoor and indoor events. As the weather gets warmer, you'll start to see more outdoor events. Right now they're limited to runs and nature walks but we're not far from the opening of such things as classic car shows and outdoor craft and antiques festivals. What's here for you are 10 options for this week:
SC Perot at Bookends in Ridgewood
Come to Bookends this Thursday night at 6 pm for another notable book signing event. Join auther SC Perot as she introduces her new book "Styles of Joy". This is a book about how to rediscover and cultivate joy in your life. This thoroughly unique concept on how to enhance your life is both entertaining and informative. Wine Tasting and Flowers at Abma's Farm
Abma's Farm in Wyckoff has a series of events year round for both adults and children. Thursday night at 630 is an adult only wine tasting and build your own floral bouquet event. Abma's Farm features a family run winery from southern New Jersey, Tomasello Wines, which will introduce you to their selection of fine wines. In addition, you'll create your own fresh flower bouquet. No matter how skilled or unskilled you are, you'll come home with a gorgeous bouquet. Tropical Plants In Your New Jersey Backyard
No, this is not a comedy play - this is a real possibility for your yard. The Garden Club of Harrington Park has a meeting Thursday at 7:30 where John Beirne explains how to incorporate beautiful tropical plants into your garden this summer. His“Tropical Gardening in NJ-Yes It Can Be Done!” teaches you how to do it. This meeting is on the 2nd floor of the Harrington Park Library is open to the public for free, If I make it, I'll give them a small donation (membership is only $20 annually)
The Irish in New Jersey
The Mahwah Museum is having a special lecture Thursday night at 7:30 - The Irish in New Jersey with Alan Delozier. Dr Delozier has a doctorate degree in Irish Studies and will take you through the history of the Irish people in NJ from their start here through today highlighting their accomplishments and how they've influenced our State in it's own development. Special Olympics Snow Ball Begins
Friday through Sunday is the Special Olympics Snow Ball held at MetLife Stadium in Rutherford. Special Olympics is a movement that "unleashes the human spirit ...through the transformative power and joy of sport." It's other goal is to remove the stigma these athletes experience. GoodWill Shamrock Shuffle 5K
Here's a 5k race for all you runners that's also a fundraiser for a very good cause the GoodWill Foundation which supports several organizations. This is a USATF sanctioned race with a value of 500 points too. The GoodWill Shamrock Shuffle is 8 am Saturday at the Saddle River County Park in Ridgewood at the Duck Pond (1133 E Ridgewood Ave). Yoga for the Soul at Bergen Town Center

NJ Young Birders Club This Saturday
The NJ Young Birders Club is for the younger set age 11 through 17 who are nature enthusiasts and love birds. There is a 3 hour walk through the wetlands of DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst (2 DeKorte Plaza). This is a 3 hour walk with 2 guides. Detailed information and registration is through this link.

Music With Marly 2025 Winter Concert
This is a free concert at HACPAC (The Hackensack Performing Arts Center - 105 State Street) It begins at 1:30 pm on Sunday and lasts 2 hours. Music With Marly is an organization that teaches, inspires and promotes young musicians. This is their annual winter concert and it's a wonderful opportunity to hear beautiful music from gifted, young performers. Please try to come. Wouldn't it be great if the concert hall was filled with more than their parents?
