This week we have 2 major religious holidays.  Sunday is Palm Sunday for Christians and Passover begins at sundown on Saturday.  Both of these links are from Wikipedia
and I encourage you to read whatever is not your religion.  This way you can better understand and appreciate those who follow a different religion.  Both are beautiful and meaningful in their own way.  Now, let's take a look at what's coming up: 

Eggstravaganza     
It's time for the egg hunt of the season!  Eggstravaganza is a Bergen County Zoo annual treat for children.  It's on for Palm Sunday Weekend so you have egg hunts on both Saturday and Sunday.  Saturday tickets and Sunday tickets are ordered online in 1 hour slots beginning at 10 am with the last at 3 pm.  Tickets are $6 for every child 2 and up.  Train rides at an additional $2 are nearly sold out (which is often the case on weekends) but there are some available still on Eventbrite.com

Easter Egg Hunts by Town    
Towns throughout Bergen County are having Easter Egg hunts this week.  And some are having festivals too.  So be sure to contact your town tomorrow (Wednesday) to see what's coming up.  The only town I know of doing something on Wednesday is Tenafly and that's a photo shoot with the Easter Bunny.

New Jersey Wind Symphony     
Come to the West Side Presbyterian Church this Friday night for a most special concert by the New Jersey Wind Symphony. The are performing their Springtime Classics concert featuring 2 soloists from the orchestra.  There is a prelude concert at 7:30 followed by the full concert at 8.  Tickets are best gotten online because prices rise on Friday plus they aren't ready to take care of this at the door.  Tickets are $30 adults, $25 seniors and $5 students.

Teaneck Creek Conservancy Nature Walk      
It's time to come back to the Teaneck Creek Conservancy for another Community Science Saturday.  You'll observe the changes that happen with the season in this Spring Signals edition.  This Saturday morning at 10 you'll begin a 90 minute walk through the preserve while you learn what plants and creatures are stirring now.  George Tsepallas will again lead and mentor you as well as help you with the iNaturalist app too.  This is a free event.  However they ask that you register in advance and to consider a $5 donation.

Birdwatching and Nature Walk with Don Torino     
The Demarest Nature Center has Don Torino coming from the Bergen County Audubon Society to lead you on a special nature walk Sunday at 10 am.  This walk begins at the Wakelee Field Imagination Playground.  Don will help you spot the different types of birds who inhabit the nature preserve as well as other inhabitants.  Nature walks are peaceful.  This free event is a lot of fun and very relaxing too.

Artisans and Yoga at Bergen Town Center     
This Saturday Bergen Town Center in Paramus has 2 different happenings.  We begin with Yoga For The Soul at 9 am.  I've written about this before - it's a free weekly yoga class and I'm just reminding you that it's on again this weekend.  Click on the link for all the details.  Later from 12 noon to 7 is their monthly Artisan Market.  This has become so popular that they've increased it's hours from the original.  At least 25 artisans have tables on display with their beautiful handcrafted goods.  The Artisan Market is located in Center Court across from Kohls.

Fort Lee Historic Park Cleanup   
This Saturday morning the Fort Lee Historic Park is asking for volunteers to help clean up the grounds and get it ready for the upcoming season of events.  It begins at 9:30 and ends at 12:30.  All you have to do is show up.  If you've never done  volunteer work before, I can tell you that giving back is truly wonderful.  You meet fabulous people, make new friends and really feel good about what you've done.

Beloved Broadway: A Side of Sondheim      
Friday night the Wyckoff Family YMCA has a wonderful program, Beloved Broadway:  A Side of Sondheim.  It's a special tribute to the glorious music of Stephen Sondheim. Much of the music Mr Sondheim wrote is part of The American Songbook.  Done in a cafe style, you'll be seated at tables.  The event starts at 7 and get your tickets are online at $40 each because they go up on Friday.

Arab Heritage Story Time at the Johnson Public Library      
Hackensack's Johnson Public Library is hosting a story time for children this Saturday at 11 am that honors Arab American culture.  April happens to be Arab American Heritage Month.  Featured will be the book The Arabic Quilt: An Immigrant Story  by Aya Khalil. There is a craft component to this - children will learn to write their names in Arabic.  No advance registration is needed.  Just come with your child. 

Greenbrook Sanctuary       
East of Route 9W atop the Palisades in Tenafly is a very special nature preserve that's not open to the public.  However you can become a member for as little as $40 annually.  Greenbrook Sanctuary is a wonderful expanse kept in it's natural state.  This Saturday at 10 begins a three mile 2 hour guided hike.  Go to their website to  learn about this unique natural preserve and think about becoming a member.  

This is what I have for the coming weekend.  I wish everyone who celebrates Palm Sunday and Passover a wonderful holiday.  I've always thought that God was trying to teach us something because both always happen on top of each other.
