Labor Day Weekend is here and with it, the traditional end of summer. Since this is such a major holiday, a lot of people are away this week. As a result, there isn't a lot scheduled in upcoming weeked events. However, we have a major Church Feast, a concert and a USATF Certified 5k run. Plus there's our 6 public golf courses and all those Bergen County Parks.
St Joseph Festival in Lodi
I'm sure you've noticed that Bergen County has a lot of Church festivals during the warmer months. Church Feasts are a long stading tradition here that everyone enjoys. This week we have one of the biggest - The St Joseph Festival. It opens Friday night 6-10 then it's 4-10 Saturday- Labor Day Monday. Of course you'll find tons of rides, games, great food, music, entertainment and raffles.
Music At The Barn
It's time for another of the Music At The Barn free concerts held at the Wortendyke Barn Museum, a natioal historic site. The barn, constructed in 1770, was part of Bergen County's fight during the Revolutionary War. You'll hear rock and blues music by Crash Gordon and Debra Dynamite on Sunday, 4-6:30. Don't forget your lawn chairs or blankets.
Dom Mircovich 5k Run/Walk & Jim O'Halloran Kid's Fun Run
Labor Day Weekend means more than backyard barbecues. For 4 decades plus on Sunday it's been the Dom Mircovich Memorial Closter 5k Run/Walk. too. Later on the Jim O'Halloran Kids Fun Run was added. This is the 44th time runners will come to Closter for this major event. It begins at Memorial Park on Harrington Avenue in town. You can register through midnight on Tuesday, the 26th, for this USATF Certified 5k race.
Hope you have a great Labor Day Weekend. As for real estate, the market does open up the 1st week of September with more homes going on the market for sale.
846 homes are for sale in Bergen County according to the New Jersey MLS. Assume 5-6% are unreported accepted offers taking us to 800. Of these, 199 are at $2 million or more leaving only 600 houses for most buyers. This strong market for sellers is only moderating slightly now but moderation has indeed begun. We are roughly 100 more homes for sale than in 2024.
