SPECIAL NOTE ON THE BERGEN COUNTY ZOO 
Wedmesday night is a very special night at the Bergen County Zoo.  It's  their annual Members Night and worth a good portion of your annual dues.  Admission is free BUT for only $5 per person you get a hamburger & hot dog meal too.  Not a bad deal that's usually worth around 1/3 of your membership dues. 

Members Night dinner is cheaper than McDonald's or Burger King for a regular burger, drink and fries.  On top of the zoo itself,  the train ride and carousel are free plus they have special events throughout the night.  Becoming a member is very cost effective so click on this link now and have fun at Member's Night! this Wednesday 5:30-8:30.  

Bergen Performing Arts Center Student Weekend
The Bergen Performing Arts Center (Bergen PAC) in Englewood is Bergen County's premier performing arts center.  With national and international stars and shows, ticket prices at Bergen PAC are a bit above the budget limits I have set for this blog.  My goal was to find affordable and free events.  However, this weekend Bergen PAC celebrates students both locally and State-wide.  The Broadway Performing Arts Academy in Hillsdale brings us their 20th year of Just Off Broadway at 2 and 6 on Saturday.  Sunday at 1 and 5 is Raise The Curtain which features Bergen PAC's own performing arts school students.  Monday night at 7 is Bergen PAC's High School Musical Awards Ceremony featuring incredible performances by students State-wide.   

What If Cares - Stephen Golub Memorial 5k
What If Media Group began this race to honor the memory of one of their associates, Stephen Golub.  This is a truly unique race because it's both virtual and in person.  It's a fundraiser for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and their goal is to raise $10,000.  The virtual race is Friday through Sunday; in person is at the Ridgewood Duck Pond at 1 on Saturday.  You need to click on this link for all the details. 

Kodachrome at Bergen County Players
Ending the Bergen County Players 2025-2026 season this weekend is Kodachrome, a one act play.  Following this, the 2026-2027 season will debut in the fall.  Kodachrome is a study of human stories that is at times, endearing, funny and poignant.  This very well received dramatic comedy with an ensemble cast opened in 2019 to rave reviews.  Performances are Saturday at 8 with matinees Saturday and Sunday at 2.

Closter Nature Center Duck Derby
The Closter Nature Center has something happening on both Saturday and Sunday.  Saturday is the Duck Derby sponsored by the Closter Lions Club.  Time is 11-2.  This is an annual fundraiser for the Nature Club and a ton of fun.  Click on this link for more details and to get your duck.  Sunday is their Pond Celebration from 1 to 4.  This free event is held at Ruckman Pond with canoe paddling, arts and crafts, science and educational talks.  Some things are ticketed; I'm guessing the arts and crafts to cover material costs.  Please email them to tell them you're coming and for your questions at naturalist@closternaturecenter.org 

Touch of England British Car Show
This is a car show experience like no other you'll find.  It's a celebration of British classic cars brought to you by The New Jersey Triumph Assocation.   You have a rare opportunity to see gorgeous, restored Triumphs and other classic British cars and motorcycles.  It's this Saturday 9-3 at The Hermitage in Ho-Ho-Kus.  If you love classic cars as I do, it's a not to be missed event.  Admission (actually a donation to 2 non profit organizations) is $10 adult and $5 child PLUS it includes a tour of The Hermitage itself.  

National Learn to Row Day
Did you know that there's a rowing center in Bergen County?  I sure didn't.  The Bergen County Rowing Center is located aong the Passaic River in Riverside County Park in Lyndhurst.   Sponsored by the Passaic River Rowing Association, Saturday from 9 to 12 is their National Learn to Row Day.  On this link you'll see how to register for this free event.  I'm sure slots will get filled quickly so don't delay on this. 

Poisonous Plants - The Sinister Garden Walk
Here is something I think is important.  We go outside when the weather is warm, take hikes in the woods, visit forests etc.  While plants are beautiful, not all of them are friendly.  This presentation at Lorrimer Sanctuary will give you a good grounding in what to avoid.  Poinsonous Plants - The Sinister Garden Walk is Saturday 1:30 to 3.  Registration is online and ticket sales end soon.

Hillsdale Music & Arts Festival
Come to Beechwood Park on Saturday from 11 to 4 for the annual Hillsdale Educational Foundation event, the Hillsdale Music & Arts Festival.  Featuring musical performers from the Hillsdale School System, you will think they're professionals.  Talented student artists will also have their works displayed.  I know that you will be very impressed with both the music and art that's there.  A free event, there's vendors and food trucks too.

Westwood Crafts In The Park
Every year Westwood has several simply wonderful craft fairs in Veterans Park.  There's also a separate section reserved for antique dealers.  What you'll find is an outstanding level of crafts and excellent antiques.  The result is that Crafts In The Park draws thousands.  It's Sunday 10-5 and run professionally by PJ Promotions.

Habrouck Heights Spring Fling Street Fair
Huge is an understatement for this annual street fair.  The Hasbrouck Heights Street Fair this Sunday is a  major Bergen County street fair with over 100 vendors.  There's everything you can imagine and more.   A true festival, you have vendors of every conceivable sort, a craft section, food, beer garden, kids zone and live music.  Hasbrouck Heights is known for it's several block long robust business district.  This is turned into 1 gigantic walking mall.  Hours are 10 to 5 and it runs between Raymond St and Washington Pl..  

Fair Lawn Street Fair & Craft Show
Here we have another major street fair in Bergen County that takes over the business district for blocks of fun.  The Fair Lawn Street Fair & Craft Show is also on Sunday at 11-5.   Like Hasbrouck Heights, thousands come to this.  On top of a myriad of vendors, there's also a full blown craft fair too.  Live music, great food, games and ride for kids and more are all here.  Location center is Plaza Rd and Fair Lawn Ave. it spreads out from there. 

Pride In The Park
Sponsored by the Borough of Glen Rock with the help of the Glen Rock Pride Committee, it's the 10th Annual Pride In The Park festival this Sunday.  Opening ceremonies are at 12 with the festival at 1 to 4.  This is a fun event aimed at everyone and celebrating the Pride Community with vendors, entertainment, food, crafts and more.  Location is the Glen Rock Borough Hall.at 1 Harding Plaza.

Paramus Summer Food Truck Festival
From now through the fall, there is a series of food truck festivals at the Paramus Park Mall on Sundays.  This Sunday opens the season from 11 to 7.  These are really big with tons of vendors, a beer garden, kids zone with bouncies (often with petting zoos or pony rides), a series of live music performances and so many food trucks.  They're fun to go to where you can sample a wide variety of cuisines and just have fun.  It's a good idea to bring a folding chair too.  Admission is $5.

As for real estate, we have 798 homes for sale which is roughly a 10% improvement over last year.  So that's great but still so far from a normal market where you'd expect 3,000-3,200 homes for sale.  Please call me if you know of anyone thinking of selling.  I have buyers and need houses for them.
