There are over 25 different events this weekend so far that I've found.  There's 2 major car shows, live performances, street fairs, festivals, nature walks, plays and so much more.  

Bergen County Players Open Auditions This Week
Bergen County Players is our premier live local theater with a robust schedule of theatrical productions.  It has auditions this week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for their fall production of the musical play, The Producers.  If you're not familiar with this work, trust me on this - it's fabulous and very funny.

Marshall Playwrights Showcase at The Players Guild of Leonia
Here we have five 1 act plays brought to you together at one time.  Each is an original piece of work by talented amateur playwrights.  The Players Guild of Leonia has been bringing these original 1 act plays to the public for years and they're always very well received.  This weekend you have Friday/Saturday at 8 and Sunday at 2.  Tickets are online  This weekend's performances of the Marshall Playwrights Showcase closes out their 25/26 season.  The new 26/27 season begins this fall.

The Bergen Alumni Theater Presents The Complete Works of Wiliam Shakespeare (abridged)
Friday begins a 3 weekend run of The Complete Works of William Shakesspeare (ABRIDGED) at Ender Hall Lab Theater (400 Paramus Rd, Paramus at Bergen Community College)  by the Bergen Stages  alumni group.  What you have here is a hysterically funny romp through all of Shakespeare's works.  Zany, irreverant and wondefully funny, this is sheer joy.  Go down the page to get tickets for times and dates.

St Francis Parish Market
It's time for the annual St Francis Parish Market.  Every year St Francis of Assisi Church in Ridgefield Park (114 Mt Vernon Ave) hosts 3 days of fun on it's grounds.  They have a beer garden, a wide variety of food trucks and carefully selected vendors.  Dates are Friday 5-10, Saturday 10-9 and Sunday 12:30-8.

The Cutting Edge - Gallery Reception
I did write about this because it opened on June 3rd.  However, this Thursday night, 6-9, is the Gallery Reception for the Hackensack Performing Arts Center (HACPAC) exhibition of the art of Jim Nonas.  Mr. Nonas is a gifted collage artist who creates beautiful works.  He will be at this reception so you can actually meet and speak with him.  This is a free event open to the public.  It's not often that you actually get to meet the artist - come on out and take advantage of this opportunity.

Public Viewing Night - Summer 2026
Public Viewing Night - Summer 2026 is scheduled for almost all weeks this summer on Thursday nights 8:30-10 weather permitting.  This is a free opportunity to see the stars and planets through the Emil Buehler Trust Observatory telescope.  

Relay For Life Of Paramus
Relay For Life is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society that is done in communities across the US.  I can't remember when it didn't happen in Paramus and anyone can join in.  You can create your own team or do it on your own.  Relay For Life of Paramus begins on Friday night at 6 at the Parkway Elementary School (145 E Ridgewood Ave).  It's an inspiring event  that brings people together in a unique and positive way.  You can volunteer, donate or join in. Fair Lawn Juneteenth Celebration
Fair Lawn is celebrating Juneteenth on Friday night, 5:30-8:30, at the Fair Lawn Community Center.  Right now there are no details because nothing is published.  I've got a call in to them and hope to hear back soon.

62nd Annual Mercedes Benz Club of America NNJS Jamboree
The Hermitage grounds (335 N Franklin Tpke Ho-Ho-Kus)  will be filled with beautiful, classic Mercedes Benz cars Saturday 10-3.  This is a major Mercedes Benz car show that brings out gorgeous classic  restorations and rare Mercedes Benz models often including the famous Gull Wing.  Admission is $10 at the gate.

Glow Up: Royal Dance Studio 20th Anniversary Performance
Come to the Hackensack Performing Arts Center (HACPAC) on Saturday for 2 dance recital performances by The Royal Dance Studio at 3 and 7.  This studio teaches dance in multiple forms from classical to hip hop whether you're a professional, amateur just starting out.  All ages too from young children through adults too.  This will be a vibrant theatrical experience that will leave you smiling.

All America Corvette Club 26th Annual Car Show
What a spectacular Corvette car show brought to us by the All America Corvette Club.  You will not see anything like it at any other time in Bergen County and, it's safe to say, in the entire NYC metro area.  People come from several States away with their classic Corvettes to be at this show.  The Chevrolet Corvette to this day remains the best mass produced sports car in the world.  The 1st Corvette was introduced at the 1953 New York Auto Show.  It's Sunday 8-3 at the Panera Bread parking lot (165 Rte 4 West in Paramus).

Franklin Lakes Freedom Fest
Franklin Lakes is having a blow out festival celebrating America's 250th Birthday on Saturday from 2 to 9..  The Franklin Lakes Freedom Fest is 7 hours of pure fun.  There's a Colonial Village, Revolutionary War enactment, live and DJ music, food trucks, beer tavern, rides an artisan and craft section, vendors and fireworks at 8:30-9.  Location is the municipal fields behind the Borough Hall at 480 DeKorte Dr.

Tenafly Nature Center Season Scavenger Hunt
Scavenger hunts at the TNC are always so much fun.  This time it's very family oriented and you can make up any group you want as a family.  The  Seasonal Scavenger Hunt is Saturday afternoon 1-2 outdoors along the nature center trails.  So be sure to wear shoes and clothing that can handle being out in the woods.  Free to members and $12 to non-member families.

Old Tappan Police Department's Touch A Truck
I love the Old Tappan Police Department's Touch A Truck event.  Can you imagine how much fun a child will have when they get to look at, sit in and blare the horn of a whole host of police, fire, EMT and DPW vehicles?  OMG!  How I would have loved this as a kid.  It's on Saturday 11-2 at the Northern Valley Old Tappan High School.  

Fort Lee 5k and 1 Mile Walk
The Fort Lee 5k happens Sunday morning.  A fundraiser for the William T Birch Children's Fund, it's sponsored by the Fort Lee PBA Local 245.  Everything starts at 9 but you can pick up your packets begining at 7:30 (also the day before on Friday 4-7 at 1355 Inwood/Community Center.  Register today to get a guaranteed t-shirt too.  They have 2 options - Fast & Flat 5k Run or the 1 mile walk.  

PIP Sip 'n Paint 
There's a 2 hour painting class at the Fort Lee Historic Park from 10 to 12 on Sunday.  The cost is only $20 for all supplies and some light refreshments as well as your instructor, Michelle Ortlip.  You must register in advance by calling 201-705-5979.  PIP Sip 'n Paint: Old Glory, The Little Red Lighthouse and The Great Gray Bridge is a painting class which will enhance your skills and give you the chance to make a lot of new friends whether you're a beginner or an experienced painter.

Nature Day at the Tenafly Nature Center
An all day celebration with multiple educational sessions, the Tenafly Nature Center's Nature Day is an annual family oriented event that brings in 250 families.  Nature Day also opens the Butterfly House for the season too.  Food trucks will be there as well as artisans, crafts people and vendors or all types.  Park at the Borough Hall lot (off of River Edge Rd immediately east of Jefferson) get a shuttle bus to the TNC.  Tickets are still available but I wouldn't wait as they limit the number of families attending.  

Pops Concert at the Thielke Arboretum in Glen Rock
Sunday afternoon at 4 is the time and the Thielke Arboretum in Glen Rock is the place for another wonderful concert by the Glen Rock Pops Orchestra.  Bring a chair and enjoy Woodland Musicale which takes you on a musical walk through our 250 years of history.  Open to the public and free, donations are welcome to defray the orchestra's expenses.  

Montvale Mile Long Street Fair and Food Truck Festival
The Annual Montvale Street Fair is humongous.  From 10 to 5 on Sunday along Paragon Drive, thousands of people come to look at what hundreds of vendors have on display.  There's also antiques and crafts, live music, rides of all sorts for the kids including a train, every imaginable food truck cuisine plus the beer garden is run by Davey's Irish Pub.  Demonstrations from all sorts of groups go on all day too.  This is so big that I don't think you can take it all in on Sunday.  If you like street fairs, this is one of our very biggest. 

Fair Lawn Pride Block Party
Sunday afternoon 12-4 is the time and Memorial Park in Fair Lawn is the place for the Fair Lawn Pride Block Party.  As with any festival, there's DJ live music, food and drinks you can purchase as well as  rides/bouncies for kids.  They also have a splash pad which is always a riot.  There's a Community Fair section, vendors, dance party and Drag Queen Bingo too.  This sounds like a lot of fun for all ages. 

The Havemeyers of Moutain Side Farm 
The Mahwah Museum has a very interesting slide presentation by Tom Dunn about the Havemeyer Family.  In a way, this seems to be a history of Bergen County too.  As Tom takes you through multiple generations of this important Mahwah Family, he is also taking you through the history of the times.  This slide presentation is on Sunday 2-3:30.  The Havemeyers of Moutain Side Farm is both a fascinating and educational look at times gone by and so much more.

Nature Walk in DeKorte Park
It's time for another nature walk guided tour by Dan Torino at DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst on Sunday 10-12,  Don does these nature walks because he loves it.  Run by the New Jersey Sports and Exhibition Authority (NJSEA), all walks are free to the public.  It's still important to register so Don knows how many people to prepare for.  You do this by either by emailing (greattauk4@gmail.com)  or calling 201-230-4983.

Howdy Stranger Improv Comedy Show at the Barrymore Film Center
You know that I've written about Howdy Stranger many times before when they've been at HACPAC.  They have become so popular that they're now adding performances at the Barrymore Film Center in Fort Lee.  It's the same zany performance that asks the audience to shout ideas and edits in this live slapstick and improv comedy show.  It happens Sunday night 7:30-9 and, as always, be prepared to laugh till it hurts.  Tickets remain reasonable at $25-35 earch general admission. Get your tickets online.  A public garage is 1 block away at Hudson Lights Garage.  There are a few free parking spaces but they get filled up ASAP.

AND don't forget about Yoga For The Soul at Bergen Town Center on Saturday morning at 9.

There's certainly a lot going on and hopefully the weather will cooperate.  Bergen County is a fun place on weekends as you can see.  

As for real estate - 
Look folks, I could really use some help.  I've got to find a house for a few people and there is nothing to show them.  We're up to 808 homes for sale - that's roughly a 12% improvement now.  But, not normal, as you know because I've told you that normal is 3,000-3,200.  Please let me know if you hear of anyone thinking of moving.

Meanwhile, there seems to be a bit of resistance on the part of buyers.  It's very subtle but it's there - time on the market is slightly higher and buyers are no longer giving up everything such as eliminating home inspections (I never agree with that) and mortgage contingencies (ditto on this).  Let's see what happens in the fall - I think it will be weaker than last year.  Again, it's not much but it's there.
