Hope you had a great 4th of July Weekend in spite of the heat.  I know a lot of barbecues moved inside but we celebrated and had fun anyway.

Local Summer Concert Series
Almost every town has a summer concert either weekly or several times each month.  Some towns have already begun and others start in July.  Bergen County itself has a rotating concert series starting with the July 4th Weekend and going on into the fall.  So if you haven't already been going to your town's concerts at night, call up your town hall and get the schedule. 

I've been to several in many different towns and the music is always terrific.  Often held in downtown parks, you can go out to dinner locally, then bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a concert for a great night out.

Bergen County Movies & Music In The Park
Every summer Bergen County itself has a rotating schedule of free outdoor movies and concerts that begin right after the truly spectacular 4th of July Celebration.  Bergen County Summer Movies & Music In The Park is a beloved tradition here from July through August.  It starts this Friday night with the award winning film, Past Lives, at Pascack Brook Co.unty Park.  Movies begin at sundown which is normally at 8:30

Sunset Yoga On Monday Nights
Come to Atlantic Street Park next to the Hackensack Performing Arts Center (HACPAC) at 102 State St every Monday in July and August for Sunset Yoga.  These free outdoor yoga sessions (weather permitting) happen twice at 6 and 7:30.  They ask that you bring a mat and water with you.  Anyone can come and all levels too.  I don't think it will happen tonight due to the rain unfortunately.  Let's hope the rain stops tonight! 

OMG! It's the Our Lady of Mt Carmel Feast!!
This has got to be the biggest feast of any Catholic Church in Bergen County.  The Our Lady of Mt Carmel Feast and Music Under The Stars is one of the most anticipated summer events here.  Thousands upon thousands come to this combination carnival, outrategeous food-a-thon and summer music concert event that goes on from Wednesday through Sunday.  The food is so good that locals stop by for take out every night it's open.  If you get your tickets from the Rectory before it starts, I believe they give you a discount.  Here's all the details.

TD Bank Summer Concert Series at Ramapo College
This Thursday night begins the TD Bank Summer Concert Series at Ramapo College.  This extremely popular event has been brought back by TD Bank with 4 concerts - 1 every Thursday night in July.  So come to the Bandshell Lawn with your folding chairs or blanket and enjoy this free 2 hour concert that begins at 7.  It's followed by fireworks too for a really fun night.  Parking is only $5.  The Fabulous Infernos will perform.  They are known as America's #1 Show Band.  All I can say is that they're great.

Carolyn Montgomery Celebrates Rosemary Clooney
The Barrymore Film Center in Fort Lee has Carolyn Montgomery performing her tribute show, girlSinger, A Celebration of Rosemary Clooney Thursday night at 7:30.  This has won awards and been a sell out show at many venues around the world as well as here in the US.  Rosemary Clooney had a decided impact on the American Songbook and Ms. Montgomery brings her music and her personality back to life.

HACPAC Sounds of Summer Concert Series
HACPAC (Hackensack Performing Arts Center) is bringing back is very popular musical summer events.  It's the Sounds of Summer Concert Series every Friday night in July and August at 7 in their Atlantic Street Park alongside their building at 102 State Street.  These free outdoor concerts are truly terrific. Come on out this Friday night with your folding chairs and blanket for the opening concert at 7.

Salsa Connections
I don't usually write about networking events.  Dragged to 2 very stiff ones years ago was more than enough for me.  But this looks very different.  Salsa Connections is a networking event where you learn to dance Salsa.  Now that's unique and a lot of fun.  It's at Booyah, a restaurant and bar on Route 17 in Mahwah.  Tickets are only $20 and you can get a drink or dinner after with the new friends/connections you make.

Vintage Baseball Game
The Bergen County Historical Society at New Bridge Landing has a vintage baseball game on Saturday afternoon.  This is such a fun event.  Teams are dressed playing baseball as it was around 100 years ago.  Vintage Baseball at Kenneth B. George Park in River Edge NJ starts at 11 on Saturday with the game endingOri around 2 pm.  Go down the page to get your tickets online.  Snacks/drinks for purchase will be on hand too.

Northern NJ BBQ Festival
Originally scheduled in May, rain canceled it so here it is this Saturday from 12 to 7 at 20th Century Field in Garfield.  The Northern NJ BBQ Festival has barbecue from around the world as well as from the US.  You can get tickets online at this link but it's virtually the same cost (according to what they have there) as at the door.  But, you won't have to wait on line so that's good.  There's also Southern seafood, a beer/crart drink/wine garden and all sorts of carnival like entertainment and vendors.

Concours on the Palisade
Sponsored by the Fort Lee Business District Alliance, this is a very special car show.  Focused on bringing out rarities and exotic cars, you'll see classic vehicles here you won't elsewhere.  Concours on the Palisade is this Sunday 10-2.  Unlike traditional car shows, on their link is a map of where cars are displayed as they are literally sprinkled throughout the Fort Lee Business District.  Additionally you'll meet experts who maintain such cars. 

Revolutionary Day at The Hermitage
The Hermitage in Ho-Ho-Kus is, as I've said before, one of Bergen County's treasures.  Over 250 years old, this historic site is where George Washington himself stayed. On Saturday it becomes a day in the Revolutionary War as you'll see a Revolutionary Day at The Hermitage with Revolutionary soldiers and colonists throughout the grounds as they were back then.  This is so well done that you will feel like you've been transported back in time.  Tickets online are only $10 adult and $5 child.  This is a spectacular event on Saturday from 10 to 4.

Not In Bergen County But - The Nyack Street Fair happens a few times each year and this coming Sunday is one of them from 10 to 5.  Huge, fun and festive, Nyack is generally 30-40 minutes from anywhere in Bergen County if not closer.  This quaint town is filled with great boutique stores and restaurants.  Only thing - this is so extremely popular that parking can be a bit of a challenge and be careful of those 2 hour park signs too.  Trust me on this - walking a bit is good for you and this street fair is well worth it.
