This week coming up has an interesting mix of things to do in Bergen County.  Don't forget to check with your town to learn if there's outdoor concerts as well as Bergem County's schedule of outdoor movies and concerts too.

Last Chance To See The Taming of the Shrew
Wednesday night at 7:30 is the final performance of The Taming of the Shrew.  This is William Shakespeare's beloved play about the battle of the sexes and his most famous comedy.  Held outside in Atlantic Park, next to HACPAC (102 State St in Hackensack), this free performance is also a great way to introduce the younger set to Shakespeare.  Bring a chair or blanket too.

DreamLab Glamping Pajama Party
The Girl Scouts have a special event Thursday night 5-8.  It's their DreamLab Glamping Pajama Party for girls from PreK to the 8th grade.  This sounds like so much fun.  They're going to create a tent city with all sorts of activities and games.  All of the girls will be together so that they can learn from each other and create projects together.  Tickets are $35 and they're going fast.

Jazz Under The Stars
The Englewood Public Library Jazz Under The Stars free concerts are very popular.  Thursday night at 7:30 is music by Sharp Radway.  Mr. Radway is a very creative and avant garde jazz musiciam and composer.  Held outdoors on the library's front lawn, don't forget to bring a chair and/or blanket.

Let's Make A Big Puppet!
Friday through Wednesday multiple time slots are available to learn how to make puppets.  Really for age 12 through adult, younger children can come if accompanied by an adult.  These are the Illumination 250 Festival Puppet -Making Workshops.  You'll learn how to make those huge puppets for the Illumination 250 Parade.  It's free, all the materials are provided plus you have instructors to teach and guide you.  This sounds like an absolute blast for a good cause.  Location is 284 Hackenack Ave in Hackensack.  Illumination 250 is part of  Hackensack's celebration of America's 250th Birthday.

Business Connections Networking Event
Virtual Advisement is a company that helpss people navigate their professional lives from high school through adult career changes.  What attracted me to this networking event is that the cost at $20 is lower than what you normally see and because this follows their mission statement.  Business Connections happens Friday 4-6 at Booyah  at180 Rte 17 Mahwah (southbound lanes).  

Community Science Saturday: Insects and Pollinators
George Tsapellas is a gifted naturalist who teaches people about the iNaturalist app as he takes them through the Teaneck Creek Conservancy grounds monthly.  Community Science Saturday: Insects and Pollinators is a 90 minute hike that begins at 10 am.  It's important to register so that George knows how many to prepare for plus if weather forces a cancellation, you are noticed.

Saturday at the Ross Dock Picnic Area in Fort Lee
At the south end of the Palisades InterState Park, just above the George Washington Bridge on the Hudson River shore in Fort Lee is the Ross Dock Picnic Area.  It's busy on Saturday there.  A variety of classic lawn games is going on from 10:30 to 3:30  For young adults (18-30) there is a guided 2 mile hike that takes off  at 10:30; I'd be at least 15 minutes early.  Both events are free but parking is metered.

Butterfly Feeding at the Tenafly Nature Center
The Tenafly Nature Center has scheduled butterfly feeding sessions every weekend this summer along with access to their pollinator garden.  Unfortunately rain has derailed this but this coming Saturday and Sunday should be fine.  Butterfly feeding and the pollinator garden have multiple sessions Saturday and Sunday.  Tickets are only $8 to feed and learn about butterflies and pollinators.

Heal and Hike
Heal and Hike is a wonderful wak through the woods of the Tenafly Nature Center which will restore your soul, remove stress, bring back your positive attitude and give you back your mental focus.  For 90 minutes you will recharge your body and mind with the guidance of  professionals from the Graf Center for Integrative Medicine and the Tenafly Nature Center.  This happens at 10 on Sunday morning.

Nature Art Club: Plein Air Painting
On Sunday from 2 to 3:30 there will be an art class at Lorrrimer Sanctuary in Franklin Lakes (790 Ewing Ave).  Nature Art Club: Plein Air Painting is both indoor and outdoor and led by naturalist and artist Toni Stober.  You can draw or paint what you find in nature and all materials are included.  This is excellent hands on teaching by a professional artist so register online quickly. 

Tommy's Bubble Time Summer Show
I don't mention local town summer concerts because there's just too many but Oradell has one  this Sunday just for the younger set.  At 6:30 in Oradell's Memorial Field (343 Prospect Ave) it's  Tommy's Bubble Time.  This is part of the Tickety Tok TV show for pre-schoolers.  I bet the kids will be so excited with this.

Not in Bergen County but....
This is the final weekend for the Montclair Jazz Festival.  This is a major jazz festival that draws thousands.  There's no admission fee too.  If you love jazz , don't miss it.

As for real estate, most of the real estate year is over by now.  We get a bump of activity for a few months in the fall but this is when the majority of closings have happened.  What you'll see is that most areas in Bergen County are selling at over asking but it's mostly slightly over asking.  The high end shows signs of the start of a transitioning market but it's not dramatic.  It's subtle.  2027 as projected should still be a strong seller's market but it is moving away from this.  However, at a snail's pace for now.
