Here we go again!  This week is being impacted by the weather.  Over the next 2+ days, we are suppposed to get drenching rain with some thunder and lightning too.  As a result, this week's series of Bergen County Summer Concerts and Movies After Dark has been cancelled.  The same is true of local town outdoor concerts and movies as well as other things.  You might want to call Bergen County or your local town to see about this if the weather finishes sooner than expected now.

This is what we do have so far:

Guided Tours at The Hermitage
This summer The Hermitage is offering guided tours at only $0-10.  If you can afford a $10 donation, they'd really appreciate it.  Tours are offered on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.  The Hermitage is at 335 N Franklin Turnpike in Ho-Ho-Kus.  While this began at the start of the month, it runs through the end of August.

Jazz Under The Stars at the Englewood Library  
Thursday night at 7:30 on the front lawn of the Englewood Public Library is another of their Jazz Under The Stars concerts.  This Thursday has Jason Clotter with his Quartet performing strong rhytmic jazz with a modern twist.  Hopefully the forecasters are right and the rain will be behind us by then.

Gay Men's Bowling Night  
Here is an event just for gay men.  Gay Men's Bowling Night is Thursday evening 7-9 at Bowlero in Fair Lawn.  This is a Garden State Gay Socials event that gives men a chance to have a relaxed night out and maybe meet some new friends.  If you like to bowl, Bowlero is a great place with everything you need from bowling balls to french fries!

Salsa Social aka Latin Social
Cancelled last weekend because of rain, the Latin Social (aka Salsa Social) is now on this Saturday 4-8.  Truly one of the most energetic and fun times of the summer. It has grown into a major event attracting people from all over.  Salsa dancing + food + entertainment and more is what you have. It's a great party!

Dog Adoption Event
Are you thinking about adopting a dog?  Want to find the right dog for you?  Then go over to Pet Smart in Paramus (60 Rte 17 North) this Saturday because there will be ready to adopt dogs from a really wonderful rescue organization - Pawsitively Furever Dog Rescue. They'll be there with great dogs from 9 to 2.

Unlock The Fretboard, A Guitar Master Class 
Come to the Mahwah Museum this Saturday for a very special opportunity.  Unlock The Fretboard is a 3 hour master class taught by Mark Sganga from 11 to 2.  Mr Sganga is an International Finger Style Champion and a fabulous teacher.  No matter your level of guitar playing, this is a unique opportunity to learn from the very best.  Tickets are only $50 for such a terrific class.  Just scroll down the page to get one.

Brunch and Build
Brunch and Build is a professional women's networking event on Saturday 11-3 at Thrive Hall Events Venue (124 Broadway in Hillsdale).   This sounds like a great  event for female professionals as it opens discussions and learning comprehesively from everything starting with building and maintaining a business, burnout issues, learning how to use the digital landscape and more.  A meal is included and this is also a supportive community building event.  Look at the link - tickets are online through it as well as a good overview of everything involved.

Butterfly Day at DeKorte Park
Sunday is the 17th Annual Butterfly Day at DeKorte Park in Lyndhurst from 10 to 3.  This was pre-announced in my previous article which talked about a butterfly walk in the park then. This all day event is, of course, much more comprehensive.  There's an  extensive butterfly walk, how to create a butterfly habitat right in your own yard, ongoing displays about butterfly migration, their health, games for children and perhaps best of all for the younger set - a butterfly costume contest.  This is a free event open to the public.

The summer seems to be flying by.  September is only 6 weeks away.  This just dawned on me because I've been so busy at work that I haven't taken any time off.  So I better get my act together before it's too late.  Hope you have plans for fun too before it's September.

AND regarding real estate, Jeff Otteau is predicting lower rates next year.  This will result in more homes on the market and softening prices.  If you have more homes for sale, it affects the law of supply and demand of course. My projections were along this line too; I've been telling people who want to move south that this year will be better than next.  Some are seriously considering moving at the end of this year after the holidays as a result.
