Once you get to the end of August, there's fewer events.  While this is true for this weekend, we do have several really nice things happening.  So let's get to it now:

Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition
The Fair Lawn Community Center is home to several groups as well as the George Frey Theater.  The Wilson Arts Group production of The Wizard of Oz: Youth Edition is happening at this theater Wednesday-Friday.  Ticketing is $25 +$1.50 service fee and can be accessed at the above link.  This youth theater group has a wonderful mission and puts on professional level productions. 

Blood Drive at Bergen Town Center
Have you ever given blood?  I have several times and it's not a big deal at all.  I've always felt fine, no problems at all.  Vitalant is the biggest blood healthcare non profit in the US.  They are having a blood drive at Bergen Town Center using their Blood Mobile on Thursday 10-1.  So sign up online for the Vitalant Blood Drive on Thursday.  You'll get a $15 gift card as a thank you too!  Maybe I'll see you there.

Hackensack Performing Arts Center, aka HACPAC
This summer has seen so much rain that dozens of outdoor events have been cancelled.  This week let's hope we're fine in spite of forecasts.  HACPAC has Remember The Titans with Denzel Washington scheduled for Thursday night at 8:30 in Atlantic Street Park (102 State St).  Bring your chair or blanket and enjoy this free movie!

Brightview Senior Living Antique/Classic Car Show
Brightview Senior Living in Tenafly is having it's 2nd annual Antique/Classic Car Show on Saturday 11-2 at 55 Hudson Ave.  There's a live DJ, Sand Art, a Hoola Hoop contest, barbecue food you can buy and more.  Brightview car shows are fun because of their party atmosphere.   It's not too late to enter a car too - it's $25 and just call them up at 551-373-4098. All proceeds go directly to Alzheimer organiztions

Saturday Night Baseball 
How about supporting the Closter Nature Center and going back in time to when going to a professional baseball game was affordable and fun?  Pomona NY isn't in Bergen County but that's where the New York Boulders baseball team is playing.  This is a minor league baseball at it's best and Saturday night's game is a fundraiser for the nature center.  It's only a 40 minute drive from Englewood and you will have so much fun.  Tickets are only $16 + a small processing fee.  This is professional baseball that's affordable and a wonderful experience.  So come on out to the Closter Nature Center Fundraiser at the New York Boulders Baseball Game Saturday night at 6:30 whre you'll have a blast!

Butterfly Feeding at the Tenafly Nature Center
The Tenafly Nature Center has scheduled butterfly feeding sessions every weekend this summer along with access to their pollinator garden.  Unfortunately rain has derailed this but this coming Saturday and Sunday should be fine.  Butterfly feeding and the pollinator garden have multiple sessions Saturday and Sunday.  Tickets are only $5 members and $8 for non members to feed and learn about butterflies and pollinators.

Westwood Craft Show & Antique Corner
It's time for the Westwood Craft Show & Antique Corner at Veteran's Park (Broadway & 3rd) this Sunday 10-5.  They've added a Gift Corner AND for only $5 an item, Professional Appraiser Jon Felz will be available from 11 to 4.  Thousands come to these Westwood Craft Shows because of the terrific quality you'll find.

Paint and Sip at Demarest Farms
Demarest Farms is hosting a rather different weekend option  It's a water color painting class held by 2 professional painters - John Monton and Jennifer Randall.  This happens in the Demarest Farms Petting Zoo Sundat 5-7 where you'll be taught water color painting or enhance your skills utnder the expert guidance of these 2 terrific artists.  You can bring a drink if you like.  Everything else is included in the $48.59 ticket price.  Go to the website and scroll down a bit to find the link.  

AND don't forget that the Illumination 250 giant puppet workshops are still happening this week Monday-Wednesday.  I'd written about this in my previous article.  Also there's the free to a small suggested donation Hermitage Guded Tours through the 26th.

As for real estate, August is a subdued time as the season has ended by mid month.  What you do see is a lot of closings because of all the families with children who structured their home purchase in time for the start of the school year.
